Metal Extruder – Heavy Duty
The Metal Extruder (Heavy Duty) utilizes Direct Metal Deposition, a low-cost metal additive process developed by ErectorBot CEO Leonard Dodd for the ErectorBot platform and Autodesk ecosystems. This configuration is purpose-built for extremely thick-gauge, large-scale metal components that require extended—or near-zero—dwell times during deposition.
High-mass metal bead deposition makes the system ideal for producing vessels, heat exchangers, plenums, manifolds, propellers, impellers, and other structurally demanding metal components. This approach redefines both direct-print and post-processed metal fabrication at very large scales.
The Metal Extruder (Heavy Duty) supports steel, bronze, aluminum, and digitally blended material combinations. These hybrid alloys are classified as Digital Odd Metal (DODD metal)—a proprietary approach to multi-metal fabrication.
