Metal Extruder – Light Duty
The Metal Extruder (Light Duty) employs Direct Metal Deposition, a simplified and cost-efficient metal additive process developed by ErectorBot CEO Leonard Dodd for the ErectorBot platform and Autodesk ecosystems. This configuration is optimized for lighter-gauge, large-format metal components where precision, material efficiency, and controlled deposition are paramount.
Controlled metal bead deposition makes the system well suited for vessels, heat exchangers, plenums, manifolds, and other large metal structures that do not require extreme mass loading. This approach modernizes both direct-print and post-processed metal fabrication while reducing complexity and operational overhead.
The Metal Extruder (Light Duty) supports steel, bronze, aluminum, and digitally blended material combinations. These hybrid alloys are classified as Digital Odd Metal (DODD metal), enabling flexible multi-metal fabrication within a streamlined deposition architecture.
